Answer by macston(5194) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
S=price of strawberry chew; L=price of lollipop; S=L+3
2S+4L=54 cents substitute for S, solve for L
2(L+3)+4L=54 cents
2L+6+4L=54 cents Subtract 6 from each side
6L+6-6=54-6 cents
6L=48 cents
L=8 cents
S=L+3cents=8+3 cents=11 cents ANSWER Strawberry chews cost 11 cents
CHECK
2(11 cents)+4(8 cents)=54 cents
22 cents + 32 cents=54 cents
54 cents=54 cents
