Question 891726: A mall wants to determine if staying open for one additional hour on weekdays would interest shoppers. Management surveys random customers who are inside the mall one hour before closing each day. Are the statistics they obtain going to be representative of the population? Explain your reasoning.

No, because those people wouldn't necessarily stay around the mall for two more
hours even if the mall stayed open. Also there may be some people who work
too late to stop by the mall, who would stop by after they get off work if the
mall stayed open an extra hour. Any such people are not being surveyed at all.
