Question 883812: An ocean liner was sailing from New
York to London at 20 miles per hour.
A slower ocean liner was also sailing
from New York to London and left the
same time as the first ocean liner. After
sailing for 40 hours, the two ocean liners were a distance of 200 miles from
each other. What was the slower ocean
liner’s speed?
Can you please explain how to solve....Thanks a lot

Answer by rothauserc(4718)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
ocean liners rate is 20 miles per hour
slower ocean liners rate is x
after 40 hours,
ocean liner has covered 20*40 = 800 miles
slower ocean liner has covered 600 miles ( 800 - 200), therefore
40x = 600
x = 15
the rate of the slower ocean liner is 15 miles per hour
