Two telephone poles are 60 meters apart.the poles are 42 metres and 69 metres high.

the difference between the lengths of poles = 27 m
the distance between them = 60 m
the poles are vertical
Apply Pythagorean Theorem
One leg 60 m
Second leg 27 m
Hypotenuse x m
By Pythagoras theorem
Hypotenuse^2 = Leg1^2+leg2^2

x ^2 = 3600 + 729
x ^2 = 4329

x= 65.8 m
the distance between their tops is 65.8 m
