If the first group were changed to just 1 dog, then this one dog would need 5*5 minutes to consume the 5 bones. This is 5 bones in 25 minutes; or, 1 bone in 5 minutes, or BONES per MINUTE, the one-dog rate.

Two dogs together can consume at the rate of bones per minute.

The uniform work rate equation for these two dogs is , the situation being for consuming three bones. Solve for time t.
