Question 834113: Hi, can someone please help me with this equation ? It says, Use intercepts to graph the line described by each equation. 2x+4y=8 , & the other one is x-6=3y. Thanks in advance :)!!
Answer by josgarithmetic(39617) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Use standard form for both line equations.
Simplify 2x+4y=8, by multiplying the members by (1/2), getting .
x-6=3y should be adjusted, adding 6 and -3y to both members, getting .
Now, both equations are in standard form. This lets you find x and y intercepts, making graphing easy.
x+2y=4:
y=0, then x=4.
x=0, then y=2
Points are then (4,0) and (0,2), each an axis intercept.
x-3y=6:
y=0, then x=6.
x=0, then y=-2.
Axis intercept points are (6,0) and (0,-2).
