Question 825075: The Omaha World-Herald, on January 23, 2001,
ran an article titled “Lending Agency Convicted of Predatory Lending Practices.” A loan company took the title to an elderly Bellevue widow’s home by paying taxes of about $22,200. The market value of the house is 3 1/2 times the tax. What was the market value? Round to the nearest ten thousands.
I know the market value is $80,000 (7/2 x 22,200), but how would I write and solve this as an equation?
Thanks in advance!

Let market value be V
Then: , or
By the way, the market value is NOT $80,000. Do the arithmetic and you'll see.
You can do the check!!
