Ten liters of a 4% acid solution must be mixed with a 10% solution to get a 6% solution. How many liters of the 10% solution are needed?
.
Let x = liters of 10% solution needed
then
.04(10) + .10x = .06(10+x)
.4 + .10x = .6+.06x
.4 + .04x = .6
.04x = .2
x = 5 liters
