It is hard to understand you. Please use punctuation.
8*3/2=24/2=12
Remember multiplication by the reciprocal is the same as division.
Every 2 hours he shows up 3 times.
2/3+2/3*2/3=6/3=2 hours with 3 visits
Contrary to what my esteemed colleague Edwin has to say about this problem there is no indication that the conductor comes in 13 times.

The problem clearly states that the conductor only comes in after 40 minutes have passed. Thus he does not come in at the beginning of the trip.
So the answer is 12.

of an hour is 40 minutes. However the answer is 13, not 12, because
a conductor comes in at the beginning of each of the 12 40-minute periods, and
also at the end of the 12th 40 minute period. Suppose a conductor comes in at
noon, then these are the 13 times:

1. 12:00 NOON
2. 12:40 PM
3. 1:20 PM
4. 2:00 PM
5. 2:40 PM
6. 3:20 PM
7. 4:00 PM
8. 4:40 PM
9. 5:20 PM
10. 6:00 PM
11. 6:40 PM
12. 7:20 PM
13. 8:00 PM
