Question 286063: There are two local companies that will walk your dog. Pets first charges a membership fee of $10 and $3 per walk. Doggy Day Care charges a $5 membership fee and $2 per walk. What number of walks will cost the same at each company?
Answer by Earlsdon(6294) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Pets First's total charge (C) for x walks is:
Doggy Day Care's toatal charge (C) for x walks is:
If you set these two equal to each other, you will find your answer:
Solve for x: Subtract 2x from both sides.
Subtract 10 from both sides.
Now since you cannot have a negative number of walks, there is no solution to this problem. In other words, the costs can never be equal no matter how many dog walks are made!
