Multiply each side of the equation by x:

Now you can cancel the x terms on the right, since x/x=1:

Next you want to get x alone on one side of the equation. Multiply each side of the equation by 3:

Solve for x by dividing each side of the equation by 2:

2/3 = 5/x
Multiply both sides by 3
2 = 15/x
Multiply both sides by x
2x = 15
Divide by 2
x = 15/2
---------
With 2 fractions, you can cross-multiply - the NUM of one time the DEN of the other.
--------
2/3 = 5/x
2x = 15
x = 15/2
Saves some steps, same answer.
