Question 186659: I need help with a Pre-Algebra problem and it says: identify the domain and range of the relation. Then tell whether the relation is a function.
Here is the table
x| -2 | -1 | 3 | -5 | -8 |
--------------------------
Y| 5 | -2 | 5 | -2 | -2 |
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Domain: All possible inputs (ie x values): {-2, -1, 3, -5, -8}
Range: All possible outputs (y values): {5, -2, 5, -2, -2}
Now look at the domain. Do you see any repeated x values? Since there are no repeated x values, this means that this relation is a function.
