Tutor Alan3354: Yes, it is interesting. If one views the spherical volume as a huge number of hollow spherical shells(*), then dV/dr = S is a bit more intuitive, perhaps.

It's interesting (IMO) the the SA of a sphere is the 1st derivative of the volume.

Also, a regular cube with sides of 2s has a volume of 8s^3. The 1st derivative is 24s^2, which is the surface area.
