If the area (in square units) of the region under the curve of the function f(x)=5,on the interval from x=4 to x=8 is 20 square units, what is the value of a?

The function is simply a straight line.
the interval and represent vertical straight lines that intersect and
the area above the -axis that is bound by on the top and & on the sides is simply a with and , and its area is given by

if , then

answer: a.

I read your post very attentively,  and did not find any mention of the variable  "a"  in the  "stating"  part.

"a"  is mentioned only in the question,  but not in the  "given"  part.

From it,  I conclude that the question is not relevant to the given part,  equally as the "given" part is irrelevant to the question.

It means that your  "problem formulation"  in the post is  DEFEFCTIVE.

What  @MatLover1 writes in her post,  it does not matter,  because it is irrelevant,  too.

The  DIAGNOSIS  is   THIS:

        Throw this post to a garbage bin;
        it does not suite for anything else.
