Question 1172536: You are the manager of World Wide Athlete, a chain of six sporting goods shops in your area. The shops sell 10 racing bikes per week at a retail price of $639.99. Recently, you put the bikes on sale at $599.99. At the sale price, 12 bikes were sold during the one week sale.
What is the percent increase in number of bikes sold during the sale?

How much more revenue (in $) would be earned in 6 months by permanently selling the bikes at the lower price rather than having a 1 week sale each month? (6 sale weeks in 26 weeks.)

Answer by Boreal(15235)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
it is a 20% increase in the number of bikes being sold, increase (2) over original amount (10).
In a given week, the revenue for bikes sold is $6400
On a sale week, the revenue for bikes sold is $7200
In 26 weeks, there are 20 weeks with $6400 revenue ($128,000) and 6 weeks with $7200 ($43200), for a total of $171,200.
In 26 weeks of sales, the revenue is $7200/week or $187,200.
$16000 more, which is the same answer as $800 more per sale week and 20 more sale weeks in 6 months.
