Question 1172240: Solve the problems in one variable.
The perimeter of the rectangle is 304 cm. The length is 40 cm longer than the width. Find the length and the width.
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
width=x cm
length=x+40 cm
perimeter = 2l +2w=2(2x+40)=4x+80 cm=304 cm
4x=224 cm
x=56 cm width
x+40=96 cm length
half perimeter is 152 cm, which checks.
