The corners are marked A (top left), B (bottom left), C (bottom right) and D (top right). If the diagonal of one of the small squares is 6 Cm, what is the length of diagonal AC?

The other tutor didn't read the given information correctly.

The 6cm is the length of the diagonal of each small square -- not the side length.

So the side length of each square is cm.

Then the diagonal AC is the hypotenuse of a right triangle with legs cm and cm.
