Question 1163328: Equaton
x-(.10x)=9 OR x minus 10 percent of x equals 9
I know the answer is 10, but I am unsure of how to show the resolution.

Answer by Theo(13342)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
your equation is x - .10 * x = 9
factor the x on the left side of the equation to get:
x * (1 - .10) = 9
simplify to get:
x * .9 = 9
divide both sides of the equation by .9 to get:
x = 9 / .9 = 10
