Andy had 2x biscuits initially;  Batty had 5x.


After Andy bought 24 more biscuits, we gave this equation


     = .


It implies  


    10*(2x+24) = 16*(5x)

    20x + 240 = 80x

    240       = 80x - 20x

    240       = 60x

      x       =  = 4.


So, Andy had initially 2*4 = 8 biscuits;  Betty had 5*4 = 20 biscuits.


When Andy bought 24 biscuits, the number of biscuits in his possession became  8+24 = 32.


So, Betty should buy   =  = 2 packs of biscuits.      ANSWEWR
