Question 1153176: Hi can you please help me this problem.
Richard was driving his van and stopped for gas when the gas tank was 1/8 full. He bought 25 litres of gas for $50. Then, he noticed that the tank was only 3/4 full, so he filled it completely. How much did Richard pay in total.

.

of the tank volume minus of the tank volume is

     - = = of the tank volume.

For of the tank volume he payed 50 dollars, i.e. 10 dollars for each of the tank volume.

Since he filled, finally, of the tank volume, he payed 10*7 = 70 dollars, in all, at the gas station. ANSWER

Solved.

Notice that in my solution,  the given data of  25  liters is  EXCESSIVE.

I solved the problem and got the answer without using this number.

So,  it is  UNNECASSARY  in this problem (!)
