the profit equation is:

p = 36 * x - 175.

since p has to be greater than or equal to 950, then you get:

36 * x - 175 >= 950.

start with 36 * x - 175 >= 950
add 175 to both sides of the equation to get:
36 * x >= 950 + 175
combine like terms to get:
36 * x >= 1125
divide both sides of this inequality by 36 to get
x >= 1125/36
solve for x to get:
x >= 31.25

if he sells 31 security devices, he'll make 36 * 31 - 175 = 941 dollars.

if he sells 32 security devices, he'll make 36 * 32 = 977 dollars.
