Let x be the total distance (the value under the question).


Then you have this equation


    2 kilometers +  +  = x


To solve it, multiply both sides by 3*4 = 12.  You will get


    2*12 + 8x + 3x = 12x.


Simplify and solve for x :


    24 + 11x = 12x

    24 = 12x - 11x

    24 =   x


ANSWER.  The total distance is 24 kilometers.
