The price has been multiplied by a factor of 125%, or 1.25, or 5/4.

For the total expenditure to remain the same, the amount purchased must be multiplied by a factor of 4/5, or .80, or 80%.

80% means a reduction of 20%.

Answer: decrease intake by 20%.
