Question 1119509: Here's my problem. I'm asked to convert an equation from point slope form to slope intercept form.
The equation I came up with for point slope form is:
y-5= -2/3x(x-3)
Here's where I'm confused.
In slope intercept form I don't know which route to take, and I've done it both ways.
y-5= -2/3x+2/3(-3)
which produces: y= -2/3x+3
or
y-5=-2/3x+2/3(3)
which produces: y= -2/3x+7
The class shows an example where the point slope is, y-3=1/2(x-4), which results in a slope intercept conversion of y-3=1/2x-1/2(4)
This makes me believe that I should use
y-5= -2/3x+2/3(-3)
but then again, it could also be
y-5= -2/3x+2/3(3)
Help resolving this confusion wold be greatly appreciated.

There are 2 things I see that contribute to confusion:
(1) You use the same symbol for "times' as the
variable "x" You probably should have used "*" to
mean "times"
(2) You multiplied minus times minus and got minus
( should be plus )
