Question 1102772: Please check my result, I am not sure is it correct. Thank you.
Kim has nutritional deficiency and is tols to take at least 2600 mg of iron, 2100 mg of vitamin B1 and 1500 of B2.
One Maxivite pill contains 35 mg of iron, 8 mg of B1, 3 mg of B2 and it cost $0.07
One Healthovite pill contain 10 mg of iron, 15 mg of B1 and 18 of B2 and it cost $0.10
a) What combination of Maxivite and Healthovite pills will meet Kim's requirement at lowest cost? What is the lowest cost?
b) Does Kim receive more than the minimum amount she needs of any vitamin? If so, which vitamin is it?

I did graph on desmos.com and I think this is result:
a) The best combination is 31 pills of Maxivite and 96 of Healhovite. The lowest cost is $11.77
b) Kim receives 0 mg of iron, 0 of B1 vitamin and 321 mg of B2 more than she requires.
Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
31 times 35 is 1085 mg of iron and 96 times 10 is 960 mg of iron, so with your 31/96 combination, she only gets 2045 mg of iron, not the 2600 mg that she requires. The B1 comes out to 1688 -- far short of the required 2100. Yes, she does get 321 mg extra B2, but that really doesn't matter since the other two values are deficient.
Graphing this is going to be very difficult because this is a 3-dimensional problem. You need to go back and review the Simplex method of solving Linear Programming problems -- and that is much more complex than can easily be shown here. If you write back, I can tell you how to solve it using Excel.
