I thought of a number, divided it by 1 1/2 , then added 2 1/2 to the result, then multiplied the sum by 1 2/3 . Then I subtracted 1 2/3 and got the result 2 5/6 . What was my number?work backwards
2 5/6=17/6
1 2/3=1 4/6=10/6
add 17/6 +10/6=27/6
1 2/3=1 4/6=10/6
(27/6)/(10/6)=27/10
2 1/2=5/2=25/10
27/10-25/10=2/10
1 1/2=3/2
2/10*3/2=3/10 original number
I thought of a number, divided it by 1 1/2 , then added 2 1/2 to the result, then multiplied the sum by 1 2/3 . Then I subtracted 1 2/3 and got the result 2 5/6 . What was my number?
check
3/10 divided it by 1 1/2
(3/10)/3/2=3/10*2/3=2/10
2 /10 added 2 1/2 to the result
2/10 +5/2=25/10+2/10=27/10
27/10 multiplied the sum by 1 2/3
27/10*10/6=27/6
27/6 Then I subtracted 1 2/3
27/6-10/6=17/6
17/6 got the result 2 5/6
17/6=2 5/6
ok
