A roll of Glad Wrap sells for $2.99 a roll. A roll of Press'N'Seal sells for $3.79 or 5 cents per square foot. Press'N'Seal sells for 10/3 times as much per square foot as Glad wrap. What is the price of Glad Wrap per square foot?
:
The price per roll given for the two brands has no bearing on the problem.
Just thrown in there to confuse you, I guess.
:
Let x = price per sq/ft of GladW
:
x = .05
Multiply equation by 3 to get rid of the denominator
10x = 3(.05)
10x = .15
x = .15/10
x = .015 per sq ft
:
:
Check: * .015 = .05
