Question 1089722: A quality assurance check is 89% accurate for non-defective devices and 95% accurate for defective devices. Of the devices checked, 82% are not defective. What is the probability of an incorrect conclusion? Round the answer to the nearest tenth of a percent.

Consider 10000 devices tested. Of those 10000, 8200 will test not defective, and 1800 will test defective. Of those 8200 not defective, 89%, or 7298, will actually be not defective, leaving 902 actually defective. Of the 1800 defective-tested, 95%, or 1710 will actually be defective--leaving 90 non-defective. Thus, 902+90,or 992 out of 10000, or 9.92% will yield an incorrect test conclusion.
