here's my worksheet.

$$$

first i divided 30x^3 by 5x to get 6x^2

then i multiplied (5x + 2) by 6x^2 to get (30x^3 + 12x^2)

then i subtracted (30x^3 + 12x^2) from (30x^3 - 8x^2) to get -20x^2

then i brought down -6x to get (-20x^2 - 6x)

then i divided -20x^2 by 5x to get -4x

then i multiplied (5x + 2) by -4x to get (-20x^2 - 8x)

then i subtracted (-20x^2 - 8x) from (-20x^2 - 6x) to get 2x

then i brought down -3 to get (2x - 3)

then i divided 2x by 5x to get 2/5

then i multiplied (5x + 2) by 2/5 to get (2x + 4/5)

then i subtracted (2x + 4/5) from (2x - 3) to get -19/5

then i stopped because the degree of -19/5 is less than the degree of 5x + 2

-19/5 is the remainder and is written as -(19/5) / (5x + 2)

the dividend is the original expression of 30x^3 - 8x^2 - 6x - 3

the divisor is 5x + 2

the quotient is the result of the division and is 6x^2 - 4x + 2/5 - (19/5) / (5x + 2)
