The altitude of the isosceles triangle ABC is the perpendicular bisector of the base AC, let the point of intersection of the altitude and AC be D, then

ADC is a right triangle and we know that angle ADC is 90 degrees

The side opposite 90 degrees in a right triangle is the longest side - the hypotenuse

side AD = radius of circle + x where x > 0, therefore we have

AD = 9cm + x > AC = 6cm, a contradiction
