Let Fv be the vertical force and Fh be the horizontal force, we use trig functions to determine the two component forces of the 55 pound force acting at 55 degrees
:
1) sin 55 = Fv / 55
Fv = 55 * sin 55 = 45.053362436 approx 45 pounds
:
2) cos 55 = Fh / 55
Fh = 55 * cos 55 = 31.546703999 approx 32 pounds
:
Note that * means multiply
