Hi there,
Make what Donny spent = x
Dina spent 2x - 21
Together they spent $99
x + (2x - 21) = $99
x + 2x - 21 = $99
Collect like terms.
3x = 99 + 21
3x = 120
x = 40.
Donny spent $40
Dina spent $59
