Question 1011883: A bank teller received two bundles of P100 and P50 bills amounting to P25000. The P100 bundle contains twice as many bills as the P50 bundle. How many P100 bills and P50 bills did the teller receive?
Answer by Theo(13342)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x = number of p100 bills.
y = number of p50 bills.

100x + 50y = 25000

x = 2y

replace x with 2y in the above equation to get:

100x + 50y = 25000 becomes 200y + 50y = 25000

combine like terms to get 250y = 25000.

solve for y to get y = 25000 / 250 becomes y = 100

since x = 2y, then x = 200.

your solution is number of p100 bills is 200 and number of p50 bills is 100.

200 * 100 = 20000
100 * 50 = 5000
20000 + 5000 = 25000
