Question 106763: Hello I have a substitution problem with 3 equations, there are no examples in my text for a 3 equation using the substitution method to solve when there are missing variables in some of them
3x + z=9
x + 3y =5
2x - y +2z=9
I have tried everything possible but I just cannot come up with a solution. Can you please help me out?

Question 107026: The attendance at a baseball game is 400. Student tickets cost $2 and adult tickets cost $3. The total sales is $1050. How many tickets of each type were sold.
The answer is 150 student ticktes and 250 adult tickets. I got this trough trial and error but cannot figure out the equation.

Two friends live 15 miles apart. One day, they decide to jog and meet each other. Tanya leaves her house and heads east, jogging at a rate of 2.5 mph. At the same time Kelly leaves her house and heads west, jogging at 3.5 mph. How long does it take for the two to meet?
15= 2.5x for Tanya and
15= 3.5 x for Kelly? This can't be right, as I can only have one x. Please help
