Question 51968: I am not sure if I am getting the right answer for this problem. I need a little help.
For the equation x - the square root of x = 0, perform the following:
Solve for all values of x that satisfies the equation
Graph the functions y = x and y = the square root of x on the same graph (by plotting points if necessary). Show the points of intersection of these two graphs.
I am not sure how to graph this function. Thanks for your time.

Question 52246: Solve in terms of X. The sum of three numbers is 75. The second number is 8 more than the first.
I keep trying to set this up as follow:
Let 1st number= X
Let 2nd number= X + 8
Let 3rd number= 75-x-(x+8)
When I set it up as x+x+8+75-x-(x+8)=75 I am unable to come up with the value of X. Help please. Thanks

Question 52176: I have tried this problem in so many ways. My study guid for the placement exam says Alogebriac expression- compute and simplify.
(x-3)- (x-1)(x-1)
the answer is -6x+10 but I have no idea how they got that.

Question 52894: Could you please help me find the missing step to reach the answer in the following problem?
Solve for the indicated variable:
S=(rL-a)/(b-a); solve for a.
The answer to this problem is a=Sb-rL/S-1
My first step is multiplying both sides by (b-a) and getting:
Sb-Sa=rL-a
Next I try to get both a's on the same side, so I move -Sa over to the right:
Sb=rL-a+Sa
Then I realize that once the S is gone on the right side, the a's will cancel.
