Question 98942: I need help for 4-(2x+5)=6x+31
Answer by doukungfoo(195) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
4-(2x+5)=6x+31
Ok first thing to do is use the distributive property to get rid of the parentheses
4-2x-5=6x+31
Now combine like terms
-2x-1=6x+31
Next continue to simplify by moving like times to same side of the equal sign
-2x-6x=31+1
again combine like terms to simplify
-8x=32
finally divide both sides of equal sign by -8
x=-4
Too check answer just replace the each x in the original equation with -4
