"pie" is not a number. "pie" is dessert. "pi" is a plain text representation of the transcendental irrational number representing the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, generally expressed as , the 16th letter of the lower case Greek alphabet, and which is pronounced "pie" by almost everyone the world over with the very notable exception of the Greeks themselves who pronounce it the same way we pronounce our letter "p". Be that as it may, if you want to represent this number and you do not have the ability to create the symbol , write "pi", NOT "pie".
