I'm working on this problem and I am getting an answer that does not make sense. The problem: The volume of a cone is given by V=.333pi r squared h, where r is the radius, h is the height and pi is approximately 3.14. What is the volume of the cone in terms of b. The cone is drawn so that the height is 24 and the radius is given as 2b squared.
When I work the problem, I get V=1.04 times 4b to the fourth (4) times 24 which results in 100.37b exponent 4. I know that volume is units cubed, so the b to the fourth seems incorrect. Please demonstrate this problem. This is problem 76 on page 454 of McDougal Littell Algebra 1 Copyright 2001 book. Thank to all for showing how to work this problem.

The volume of a cone is given by V=.333pi r squared h, where r is the radius, h is the height and pi is approximately 3.14.
What is the volume of the cone in terms of b.
The cone is drawn so that the height is 24 and the radius is given as 2b squared.

V = (1/3) * pi * r^2 * h
given radius is (2b^2), h = 24, pi = 3.14
V = (1/3) * (3.14) * (2b^2)^2 * 24
V = 25.12 * (2b^2)^2
we know that the measure of the radius is one dimensional, so r = 2b^2 unit and
(2b^2)^2 is r^2 which is unit^2
