Question 903891: 2x-y-z=2
x-5y+3z=-13
-2x-2y+z=-2
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2 x + -1 y + -1 z = 2 -------------- 1
1 x + -5 y 3 z = -13 -------------- 2
-2 x + -2 y + 1 z = -2 -------------- 3
consider equation 1 &2 Eliminate y
Multiply 1 by 1 -5
Multiply 2 by 3 4
we get
2 x + -1 y + -1 z = 2
3 x + -15 y + 9 z = -39
Add the two
5 x + -16 y + 8 z = -37 ------------- 4
consider equation 2 & 3 Eliminate y
Multiply 2 by -2
Multiply 3 by 5
we get
-2 x + 10 y + -6 z = 26
-10 x + -10 y + 5 z = -10
Add the two
-12 x + 0 y + -1 z = 16 -------------5 5
Consider (4) & (5) Eliminate x
Multiply 4 by 12
Multiply (5) by 5
we get
60 x + 96 z = -444
-60 x + -5 z = 80
Add the two
0 x + 91 z = -364
/ 91
z = -4
-12 x + -1 z= 16
-12 x + 4 = 16
x = -1
Plug x & z in eq (1)
2 x + -1 y + -1 z = 2 -------------- 1
-2 + -1 y + 4 = 2
-1 y = 0
y = 0
x= -1 y= 0 z= -4
