Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Simplify (5x) to power of -2
-----
Comment:: The 2 means "square" or "multiply the number by itself".
The "negative sign" means "invert".
You may do these 2 steps in any order.
-----
(5x)^-2
If you square 1st you get (25x^2)
If you then invert you get 1/(25x^2)
------
(5x)^-2
If you invert 1st you get (1/5x)
If you then square you get (1/25x^2)
-------------------------------------------
Ans: 1/(25x^2)
