You can put this solution on YOUR website!

the length of a rectangle is 2 in. more than twice its width. if the perimeter of the rectangle is 34 in, find the dimension of the rectangle
Let the width of the rectangle be= b = 2x
Then the length of the rectangle = l = 2x+2
The perimeter of the rectangle = p = 34 in
p = 2(l+b)
34 = 2(2x+2+2x)
34/2= 4x+2
17-2 = 4x
4x = 15
x = 15/4 = 3.75
The dimensions of the rectangle are b = 2(3.75) = 7.5 inch
l = 2(3.75)+2 = 9.5 inch
