Then the length of the rectangle = l = 2x+2

p = 2(l+b)
34 = 2(2x+2+2x)
34/2= 4x+2
17-2 = 4x
4x = 15
x = 15/4 = 3.75
The dimensions of the rectangle are b = 2(3.75) = 7.5 inch
