here's what i came up with:
2x-y+2x+3y=5+13
2y=18-4x
y=9-2x
2x-9+2x=5
4x=14
x=7/2
y=9-2(7/2)
y=9-7
y=2

Your first step makes no sense. Why? It is a substitution but gives you no useful information. Try subtracting the two equations instead! This will be the beginning for the Elimination Method, since subtracting one equation from the other will eliminate the 2x from this result.
