Question 870532: Using the method of substitution find the value of x and y.
y - 8x = -5
x^2 + y^2 = 25

Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y - 8x = -5
x^2 + y^2 = 25
y=8x-5
x^2+(8x-5)^2= 25
x^2+64x^2-80x+25=25
65x^2-80x = 0
5x(13x-16)=0
either 5x = 0
OR 13x-16=0
there fore x=0
or x=16/13
