Question 826792: how do i do this problem by using substitution
-7x+2y=2
y=4x+1
Answer by josgarithmetic(39620) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve one of the equations for one of the variables.
Substitute the expression for that variable into the other equation.
Solve the resulting equation for the single variable.
Use either equation to determine the value of the other as yet unknown variable.
Your example already has one of the variables as a function of the other variable, so the process is one or two steps shorter.
