Plan to get rid of the y terms so you can solve for "x".

Multiply the 1st equation by 4 to get:
-36x+8y=8
---------
Subtract that from the 2nd equation to get:
42x=-14
x=-1/3
----------
Substitute that back into one of the earlier equations to solve for "y".
6x+8y=-6
6*(-1/3)+8y=-6
-2 + 8y = -6
8y = -4
y=-1/2
-----------
Solution x=-1/3 ; y=-1/2

-9x+2y=2 multiply this equation by (-4) & add the 2 equations thus:
36x-8y=-8
+6x+8y=-6
------------------------------
42x=-14
x=-14/-42
x=1/3 answer.
-9*1/3+2y=2
-3+2y=2
2y=2+3
2y=5
y=5/2
y=2.5 answer.
