Question 78378: please show me step by step how this one is solved
1/x-2 = 3/x-3

Answer by dolly(163)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1/(x-2) = 3/(x-3)
First we find the LCD for the denominators which is = (x-2)(x-3)
Now we multiply both the sides by the LCD
We get 1(x-3) = 3(x-2)
==> x - 3 = 3x - 6
Adding -x to both the sides we get,
-3 = 3x -x - 6
Adding 6 to both the sides,
6-3 = 2x
==> 3 = 2x
==> 3/2 = 2x/2
==> 1.5 = x
Thus x = 1.5 or 3/2
