Jack and Jean walked in opposite directions for 2 hours, travelling a total distance of 24 km. Jack walked at an average rate that was twice as fast as Jean. Show Jack's average rate of speed in kilometres per hour.
***
let x=jean's rate of speed
2x=jack's average rate of speed
distance=traveling time*rate
2x+2*2x=24
2x+4x=24
6x=24
x=4
2x=8
jack's average rate of speed=8 km/hr
