You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2(p + 4)= 7p + 2
2P+8=7P+2
2P-7P=2-8
-5P=-6
P=-6/-5
P=1.2 ANS.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2(p + 4) = 7p + 2 <---- original problem
2p + 8 = 7p + 2 <---- distributed the 2 to "p" and to "4"
-7p ..... -7p <---- subtracted 7p from both sides of the equation
____________________
-5p + 8 = 2
..... -8 .... -8 <---- subtracted 8 from both sides of the equation
____________________
-5p = -6
%28-5p%29%2F-5%29 = %28-6%29%2F-5%29 <----divide both sides by -5 to isolate the 'p'
p = %286%2F5%29
Does this work? We can plug in the answer into "p" in the original problem.
2(p + 4) = 7p + 2
2(%286%29%2F%285%29+%2B+4%29) = 7%286%2F5%29 + 2
%2812%2F5%29 + 8 = %2842%2F5%29 + 2
%2812%2F5%29 +%2840%2F5%29 = %2842%2F5%29 + %2810%2F5%29
%2852%2F5%29 = %2852%2F5%29
Now we can see that yes, the solution works. :-)
