Cross Multiply
3(a+7) = 5(a+1)
Distribute the 3 and the 5
3a + 21 = 5a + 5
Group like terms
3a - 5a = 5 - 21
Combine like terms
-2a = -16
Divide both sides by -2 to isolate the variable
