(1/3)-(2/x-2)+(1/x+1)

Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(1/3)-(2/x-2)+(1/x+1)
--------
The least common denominator (lcd) is 3(x-2)(x+1)
Rewrite each fraction with the lcd as its denominator.
[(x-2)(x+1)/lcd] - [2*3(x+1)] + [3(x-2)]
Combine the numerators over the lcd, as follows:
[(x^2-x+1)-6x-6+3x-6]/lcd
[x^2-4x-11]/[3(x-2)(x+1)]

Stan H.
